hortus, De/ USA 2021, 6 min. Music: Timothy Shearer
This experimental photofilm is on agriculture and how we treat our environmental nature. In 2014 I started to photograph the patches of my medical herbs throughout the whole year, I was interested in how the plants changes their shapes and colours. Further I reduced the photos in the pure color means, let them move in a classic spectrometer analysis grid. The second part starts with the plan of the garden of St. Gallen and goes on with the idea of what it might look like if, after the destruction of the environment, a scientific study were made of the last evidence of a garden. hortus means it is a demarcated garden that is ideally planted and cared for. It is a piece of cultivated nature and should represent the regulated and best possible form of the entire flora. An artificial act of imagining the garden of Eden at a given time.
