There are some politically motivated exhibitions that deal with individual topics artistically; sometimes educational, sometimes appealing or documentary motivated. The question arises for me whether it is possible at the moment to make non-political and/or non-feminist art. Or is it appropriate right now to become apolitical out of antagonism? It is not possible to successfully escape the tide of things going wrong. Nor is it possible to take a position on everything. The overall picture is a bleak one.

What artists can do is speak out over and over again and present an attitude to the grievances and the general and personal situation.

One consequence of the situation described above is the permanent underlying anger I feel, which is accompanied by an exhaustion of having to negotiate the same thing over and over again, which I call rage'n'boredom here.

For this exhibition I have invited colleagues to exemplify the socio-psychological situation of artists from different perspectives. The positions of the participating artists show in the exhibition with the accompanying performative parts a personal picture of the current situation and take their own attitude, which is combined in the exhibition to an overall impression. The aim is to bring the exhibits and performances into their own visual-acoustic dialogue.

During the discussions in preparation for this exhibition it became clear: we share an interest in expressing ourselves, but we did not agree on the terms anger and boredom. The discussions in the preparation were interesting, intense, controversial and it became clear to me that it is not possible here to come to a text that can be formulated in a "we". But what seems more important to me is: in the exhibition we will present ourselves together and in very different ways for 5 hours. The emphasis here is on the dialogical of the different artistic positions and not on a theoretical common attitude. The discussions in the preparation, such as formulating the differences, disagreeing and yet working out a project together critically, which show the similarities and also the differences is the result.



Recorder Performance "Pied Piper" Otto Hashmi
Otto Hashmi plays a free recorder composition inspired by the motif of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The beginning is classically calm and ends in the rage of the present. Otto is a recorder player and composer from London, UK.

Sound Performance "Vom Abbau der Welt zu Ganz Berlin", Matthias Mayer aka DJ Sporty Jack
In October 2022, Wolfgang Müller from "Die Tödliche Doris" had called for the participation contest "DIY - Doris zum Selbermachen. Create your own Doris!" and provided 19 non-copyrighted recordings made between 1980 and 1982 for own compositions, which should not last longer than three minutes. From these, Matthias Mayer aka DJ Sporty Jack produced the track "Abbau der Welt" (Dismantling the World) using his own sampling and mixing technique that combines anologous and digital processes, which he performs with the help of numerous cassette decks and large mixing consoles. This sound collage and other challenging sound compositions are part of his entire spectrum, which ranges from the experimental to "conventional" electro and crossover tracks.

Karø Goldt *1967 in Günzburg, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Sie studierte Religionswissenschaften an derFU Berlin bei Prof. Dr. Klaus Heinrich und an der Schule für künstlerische Photographie, Wien bei Friedl Kubelka / vom Gröller.
Karø Goldt arbeitet seit 1993 mit dem Medium der künstlerischen Fotografie und seit 2001 mit dem Medium des experimentellen Films. Goldts Videoarbeiten werden aus digitalen und analogen Fotografien animiert. In den Videos arbeitet sie in engem Austausch mit verschiedenen Musiker*innen. Goldts grafisch bemerkenswerte Videos basieren auf experimentellen und digital manipulierten fotografischen Abzügen, die durch die Animation zu verstörend schönen Bildkompositionen werden: formal minimalistisch, sinnlich intensiv. Indem sie einerseits reale Objekte akribisch beobachten und verfremden, andererseits virtuelle Bildwelten schaffen, die an Realitäten erinnern, erreichen Goldts Filme einen Zustand des Dazwischen. Goldts künstlerische Methodik nähert sich der Frage nach dem Bildhaften und der Zeit mit den Mitteln der Fotografie und des Films. Goldt greift aktuelle Themen auf und hinterfragt in ihrer Arbeit unter anderem gesellschaftspolitische und ethische Dynamiken der Gesellschaft.
Karø Goldt wird in alle Programme einführen und für ein anschließendes Publikumsgespräch anwesend sein.

LOVE – COLOUR – MUSIC
Frühstückskino à la Goldt. Gezeigt werden verschiedene Kurzfilme von Goldt (2003-23), die von abstrakten Farbvideos, über „Tierfilm“, bewegten Fotocollagen und Landschaftsansichten sehr viele Motive und Genres durchlaufen. Hier sind die zwei Schwerpunkte der Umgang mit Farbe in der Medienkunst und das Zusammenspiel von Bild- und Tonebene, welches sehr unterschiedliche Musiker*innen und Soundartist*innen vorstellt, mit welchen Goldt zusammengearbeitet hat.

Jeder hat Vorbilder. Goldts Arbeitsweise wurde eher von der Malerei beeinflusst, aber es gibt auch ein paar Vorbilder aus der Filmkunst. Es wird eine visuelle Überraschungsreise durch einen feinen kleinen Teil der filmischen Avantgarde (1929-1981) im Wechsel mit Goldts Arbeiten (2020-22).

MY MOST UNSUCCESSFUL VIDEOS
Das Kino steht für den Ort der Sehnsucht, des Austausches, des Träumens und der Information. Die Zahl der Festivals, der Produktionen und der Einreichungen steigt und steigt. Das bedeutet schlicht: weniger Geld, mehr Konkurrenz. Und letztendlich auch sogenannte “Ladenhüter” in Goldts eigenem Videoarchiv. Die sie in diesem Programm vorstellt: Fotofilme, die es weder in den Verleih noch auf ein Festival geschafft haben. Goldt erzählt von allem was schief ging. Es geht hier nicht nur um die vergessenen Videos aus Goldts Filmografie, es geht auch um die ganze Branche und die Arbeitssituationen von Künstler*innen, Krator*innen, Verleih und Festivals. Aber auch das kann mit Ironie und guter Laune vermittelt werden. Dies wird mit Sicherheit der lustigste Teil des Tages!

With the help of Jimmy Peggie's soundtrack, the video has finally become perfect. The moving image has found an acoustic home

"ever now" shows the very long, very extended moment of a mood. I started the video around 2003. I wanted to show the time when you can't sleep. You can't determine the duration of lying awake. You look in front of you and don't even think. I tried to capture the feeling towards my deceased father. Not really sad, not really happy, a bit sensual and missing. The absolute moment without before and without after. Not long and not short.

Sometimes you get lucky: I became aware of the musician Jimmy Peggie via instagram, we started writing and exchanging ideas. Then came the idea of a collaboration and after more than two years we produced a joint video:

It was a pleasure to realise that a long distance collaboration is possible and we didn't even talked or zoomed, we just wrote to each other and VOILA there is a result that makes us both happy.


It surprised us both that this is possible.

Toni Soprano Meneglejte and Karo Goldt show the video works "Happy Days with A.I" (Toni Soprano Meneglejte, 2023, 20 minutes) and "fake diary tutorial" ( Karo Goldt, 2023, 5 minutes) at BLACKBOX / GT_22 in Maribor. Photos by Goldt on the theme will also be shown in the BLACKBOX.

The exhibition refers to identities that are faked, renewed and extended, multiple identities become reality. The difference between so-called reality and so-called virtuality is becoming increasingly blurred.

It gives me great pleasure to show my most unsuccessful videos from 2002 to 2020 at GT_22 at space SK8GT22. These are videos that have not yet been shown publicly, that have either not been included in the distribution programme of my film distributors (sixpackfilm, Vienna / LightCone, Paris / arsenal distribution Berlin and CFMDC Toronto) or have never been distributed by them. These are the videos that no curator has ever chosen. (I have included one or the other video in programmes that I was allowed to design myself.)

In short, it's an event full of world premieres!

Raum für Notizen ist eine Zusammenarbeit von Karø Goldt (Berlin) und Otto Hashmi (London).
Im Sommer 2022 wurde das Projekt für einen ehemaligen Grenzwachturm der DDR in Berlin-Treptow konzipiert, in dem Goldt die TheWatch Residency hatte. In engem Austausch wurde ein Konzept entwickelt, bei dem das Visuelle (Ausstellung der Notizen und Videoloop) und das Akkustische einen Dialog zu einem Thema eingehen. Es ging um das Wiedergewinnen von Vertrauen, es ging um diesen speziellen Ort in der deutschen Geschichte, welche die Teilung, das Misstrauen und die Einengung verkörpert hat.

"PERSONALE: GOLDT" Kompilation

The legendary and symbolic female figure Lucretia committed suicide after being raped in order to restore her honour. For centuries, this theme has served as a pretext for male painters to create erotic and pornographic images. For this photo film, I used a representation of the unclothed Lucretia by Lucas Cranach the Elder and scanned the painting like from head to foot. In doing so, I mainly show the very light skin of the unclothed woman in an abstracted form in order to restore her integrity.
I compiled the sound from various recordings of death bells from the Greek Orthodox Church.

Zu meiner großen Freude wurde ich vom "ausland - territory for arts and collateral dammage"
(Michael Freerix) in der Lychener Str. 60 / 10437 Berlin eingeladen einen Abend lang
Videos zu zeigen und in einem Publikumsgespräch mit allen Anwesenden zu diskutieren.

Im Januar 2018 hatte ich dort bereits einen wunderbaren Videoabend und weiß daher, dass die
Soundanlage großartig ist. Für alle, die Sound und Filmmusik mögen eine perfekte Gelegenheit!
Es gibt eine kleine Bar....ich würde mich über dein Kommen sehr freuen und bringe Freund*innen mit,

"Poetry of Aimlessness" is another video work with the incredible Tina Jander, her music piece "Funny Feelings" inspired me to make this video. The theme was already there, but the visual language is significantly influenced by her wonderful music. Hopefully there will be further joint projects with Tina Jander, I can only thank her most sincerely for her trust in my work and the very good cooperation.

"poetry of aimlessness" is a video that shows a feeling over a few minutes (3` 42``), which is presented as a stretched moment. What is shown is my reality between ambiguity and ambivalence. This moment is strong and clear in factual emotionality. This moment is also a permanent state and beyond my possibilities of verbal communication. This video with the music piece "Funny Feelings" by Tina Jander shows a simultaneity of opposites. "poetry of aimlessness" shows facts.
